European Broadcasting Union and Public Television of Armenia officially announce that next year Armenia will host the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is due to the victory of 14-year-old young Armenian singer Malena at the 19th Junior Eurovision Song Contest held in Paris.
This is Armenia's second victory at the contest. In 2010, Vladimir Arzumanyan took first place and in 2011, the contest was held in Yerevan. After 11 years, in 2022, Armenia will host Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the second time.
Executive director of Junior Eurovision Song Contest Martin Osterdal stated in his speech: "An interesting, high class and modern performer from Armenia has set new standards for the contest. Armenia's enthusiasm for the competition is boundless and we are happy to announce that the Public Television of Armenia has expressed its wish to host the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest next year. We look forward to working with them to jointly organize a special show, which will be an anniversary.
Noel Curran, director general of the European Broadcasting Union, added: "We are very pleased with Armenia's second win in Paris this week and congratulate Malena and the hard-working Armenian Public Television delegation on their brilliant victory. We welcome the willingness of our EBU member from Armenia to host the 20th Eurovision Junior Song Contest and look forward to a brilliant collaboration between EBU and Public TV in the coming months."
Director General of the Public TV of Armenia Hovhannes Movsisyan mentioned: "From the first minutes of the song premiere we believed in Malena's victory, seeing the overwhelming response of European music lovers and therefore we hope to host this large-scale event in Armenia as well. Our compatriots enthusiastically welcomed Armenia's return to the Eurovision family, moreover, they are looking forward to hosting this great event in our country. Welcome to Armenia".
